This is a bird that spends his summer in our neighborhood pond. I wanted to paint him a few years ago but he was in hiding whenever I took my camera with me on my walk. Once I began to work at my home studio, I was home more often and I finally snapped several pictures of this majestic fishing bird. The strong shadows and backlit scene captures his personality.
